The Waste Batteries & Accumulators Regulations
Under the Waste Battery Regulations, Lawson HIS are now offering a take-back scheme for all portable waste batteries.
You can return your batteries to our business premises in person (please do not send by post/carrier/etc), or you can take your batteries to a local Waste Portable Battery Recycling Facility. Most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, so end users may find stores in thier local area more accessible.
The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE)
Lawson HIS have recycling facilities available for all customers where you can deposit your old electrical products, on a like for like basis, when they are being replaced with new items supplied by ourselves. The legistlation aims to:
- Make good use of materials that make up electrical equipment waste rather than disposing of them in landfill.
- Prevent the negative effects of sending what are often hazardous goods to landfill
You can of course recycle your electrical products independently and you can find your nearest facility at recycle-more.co.uk.
This symbol is known as the 'Crossed out Wheelie Bin Symbol'. When this symbol is marked on a product or packaging, it means that the product should not be disposed of with your general household waste. Only discard electrical/electronic items in separate collection schemes, which cater for the recovery and recycling of materials contained within. Your cooperation is vital to ensure the success of these schemes and for the protection of the environment.
